WELCOME
TO THE WEBSITE OF WESTERN AUSTRALIAN SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRY GROUP
(WASIG)
PLEASE
NOTE
We
regret to advise that, due
to lack of resources, WASIG has found it necessary to severely limit
its activities. We will be continuing the 2005 Eco-Efficient Entrepreneur
Series, and will be looking for other "learning-by-sharing"
opportunities so please check the Seminars & networking page
above on a regular basis. We will also keep the WA Cleaner Production
Statement site as current as possible, but we will not be able to
seek new signatories. We will strive to find new resources to continue
the excellent work WASIG has done over the last 5 years. In the
meantime, we encourage all WA industry to pursue Eco-Efficiency
and Cleaner Production for a clean and competitive WA.
Martin Taylor, Acting Convenor, WA Sustainable Industry Group
WA
SIG is a multi-stakeholder platform of business, public sector,
environment, engineering and education professionals committed to
a clean and competitive Western Australia, and to advance the business
case and agenda for sustainable development.
WA
SIG works towards the vision where WA businesses, large and small,
lead by example in addressing local and global sustainable development
challenges, by delivering innovative, competitively-priced goods
and services that bring quality of life, while progressively reducing
environmental impact and resource intensity.
WA
SIG's Charter
outlines the vision, mission, outcomes and planned activities of
the the group.

- WA SIG provides learning-by-sharing and networking opportunities
to improve the understanding of sustainable development and the
business opportunities it presents, through: seminars, executive

Cleaner
Production Statement - WA SIG also works to encourage participants
to identify and pursue their own opportunities for implementing
Cleaner Production and Eco-Efficiency, in particular through promotion
and administration of the WA Cleaner Production Statement. For a
copy of the Cleaner Production Statement, its history, and a list
of current signatories click in the "CP Statement" button

Organisation
- WA SIG operates as an informal network of professionals. It has
not been incorporated as a membership organisation, in order to
ease participation from different stakeholders in the activities
and management of the WA SIG. WA SIG is convened (on a temporary basis) by Martin Taylor, Industry Liaison Manager, Centre of Excellence in Cleaner Production, Curtin University of Technology,
in consultation with a multi-stakeholder group from:
- Curtin University of Technology
- Central TAFE
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA
- Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA
- Department of Industry & Resources
- Sustainable Energy Development Office
- Town of Kwinana
